We all know that it is going to take more than just the people in the IBD community to bring about awareness for this disease and to raise money for continued research for the cure of IBD. We need those who are not personally affected by this disease to also join in this fight. Presumably, those people are typically friends and/or family members of a person with IBD. How amazing would it be if people with no connection to the disease, at all, started to participate in the fight to end it?
I recently received a message from a young woman named Christine. Christine doesn’t have IBD, but she has become active in the CCFA Team Challenge, where she lives. I honestly do not know what motivated her to get involved with the CCFA Team Challenge in San Diego, but she did. She has set the goal to participate in the Rock n’ Roll Las Vegas Marathon, on November 15th of this year, to raise awareness and funding for Crohn’s Disease and Ulcerative Colitis. Maybe she knows someone with the disease or maybe she doesn’t. Maybe it’s for a school project, or maybe she just rocks and wants to help others; what a novel concept. Honestly, I really do not care about her reason. I just care that she is doing it and that she is motivated to help spread awareness and raise money in support of us; those who do carry this disease within us every single moment of every single day. I think that makes her unique and special and pretty darn awesome! I can’t say that I know anyone who knows me, whether it be a family member or a friend, who has ever taken the time to spread awareness about this disease or make a donation towards research for a cure. So, even if Christine is running in support of someone special to her, that person is a representation of all of us!
So, please take the time to check out her page and consider supporting her, BECAUSE SHE IS SUPPORTING US!

Thank you to everyone who is active in spreading awareness for IBD and IBD related issues! Whether you have IBD or not, your efforts are greatly appreciated!
